What Not to Say at Your First Post-Vaccine Party

Harry Myles

Some helpful advice as we all re-learn how to socialize

Ok, you’ve made it. You’re at your first post-vaccine party (while still abiding by all public health measures!) and it’s time to socialize in a large setting once more. But wait, you haven’t spoken to anyone except for your cat in the past year and a half. Don’t worry, UV is here to help! Here are some things you shouldn’t say at your first post-vax hangout.

  1. Don’t ask which vaccine someone has.
  1. Don’t talk about how easy it is to photoshop a vaccination certificate.
  1. Don’t say Pfizer is the best vaccine. Nobody cares.
  1. Don’t brag about how you’ve gone this long without catching COVID.
  1. Don’t talk about the pandemic like it’s over. We may be in a slightly better spot now than last year, but the pandemic is still very real.
  1. Don’t word-vomit about your pandemic hobby. People can only take so much discussion about sourdough starters.
  1. Don’t hug or touch someone without EXPRESS permission.
  1. Don’t show a mild acquaintance your album of crocheted sweaters you made for your cat last winter. Save that for the second post-vax hang.

If you avoid these pitfalls, then you should be well on your way to socializing once again!
